KC in the Pink! Brought to you by Kansas City Cancer Center
For the seventh year, Kansas City will be “in the pink” this October, as Kansas City Cancer Center (KCCC) enhances its Pink Fountains campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
KCCC will dye a dozen fountains in 2010. It’s a tradition that began several years ago when KCCC was looking for a creative way to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer. Since then, KCCC has expanded its practice to locations throughout the metropolitan area, and its Pink Fountains campaign will also stretch beyond Kansas City to Lee’s Summit, Lenexa, Olathe, Overland Park and the Northland.
According to KCCC Marketing Director Pam Crawford, the striking appearance of the pink fountains is a reminder of the lives lost to breast cancer, a celebration of the lives spared through awareness and quality cancer care, and a signal to continue the research necessary to tackle the disease. “Raising breast cancer awareness requires a bold and highly visible approach,” says Crawford. “What better way to bring attention to the cause than to leverage Kansas City’s most iconic images – its fountains.”
